Patents for radar sensors
We license patents for the manufacture and sale of radar-based products. To facilitate licensing, we offer short-term Demo Units to help you evaluate the technology.

Global Leader in patented radar sensors
Our patents are the creation of world-renowned inventor Tom McEwan, who holds 56 U.S. patents (Listing of Patents) and 214 patents and patent applications globally – the world’s largest radar sensor portfolio.

Background
McEwan invented Micropower Impulse Radar (MIR) in 1992 during his tenure at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). MIR was cited by the The Guiness Book of Records as “the world’s smallest radar system” and MIR became the Department of Energy’s most widely licensed technology. By 1998, 28 licenses were granted to industry at an issue fee of $100,000 each. MIR technology was valued at several billion in annual sales potential and today numerous products are available from companies such as GE/Interlogix, Saab/Rosemount, and Magnetrol. The editors of Popular Science magazine published a cover story listing 101 uses for the technology and Electronic Design News honored MIR as one of the year’s “100 Hottest Products.” McEwan’s MIR patents are available for licensing from LLNL.

McEwan left LLNL in 1996 to work independently and he founded McEwan Technologies, LLC (MET) to license his new patents. Today, many companies have licensed from MET and he continues to develop radar sensor technology from his home laboratory in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Notice: MET does not make end products or production units. MET's sole purpose is to license its technology and to that end we have pre-licensing demo kits available for a 60-day evaluation to companies with a U. S. presence or market.
