Abstract: A transmit reference sampler, a receive echo sampler, automatic phase-and magnitude-based pulse detectors. The transmit reference sampler and the receive sampler are driven from a common clock so that the transmit-receive timing offset drift precisely cancels on a picosecond scale, thereby enabling sub-millimeter range accuracy with common, low-cost circuit elements.

Applications include precision tank level measurements, robotics, and automotive back-up and collision warning.
